Why is John Lennon Wearing a Skirt? how is it going...

8th February 2014

This week we entered the blocking stages in full force. After last week setting the foundations for two of our stage filling chorus scenes, we spent the morning blocking them completely. In the week chorus members had time to build up and develop their own characters to implements into the scenarios of the scenes. So expect to so a wide and diverse variety of actors owning the stage and bringing the 60’s vibe of the play to life.

In the afternoon we blocked through scenes 1 – 6 of the play. Without giving too much away, these earlier scenes follow the Young and Middle Claires though different snapshots of their life; experiencing their opinions and tastes as they grow up.
After having a great first practice together last week, our live band joined the acting rehearsals this week. As well as being the live sound track to the show they also react to scenes and feature as different characters in the play.

I caught up with our assistant director Sarah Kemp after rehearsals and she told me “We have just had a fantastic rehearsal with the Young Claires. They may be some of the youngest members of the company (aged 9-11) but they are formidable and yet so funny it is just flabbergasting. This is a perfect example of what Stage2 is about, high standards no matter your age.”
